Goodbye 2012, Welcome 2013

The end of 2012 saw us say goodbye to a very special member of our Bangalow Creek Warmbloods team.  Coralie Smith, my wonderful mother, died from Ovarian Cancer on the 22nd December, less than two months after being diagnosed.  Coralie was part owner of Just Dance.  She also took on the roles of assistant coach and groom.  She had a wonderful eye for dressage and was invaluable as the ‘eyes on the ground’ for the training of our horses.  We had a wonderful time attending the big competitions; our biggest adventure was taking the new truck to Victoria for Dressage With the Stars at the beginning of 2012.  In years past we also travelled as spectators to the WEG in Aachen, Germany and Kentucky, USA.  We were planning to go to Normandy, France in 2014. I miss her immensely, but the nature of the circle of life requires those left behind to keep pushing on.  So forward we go into 2013.

This season a fabulous batch of foals were born.  Qianna, by Quando Quando, is a beautifully light filly with amazing scope in her paces.  Summer, by Sir Donnerhall, is a very strong filly with big suspended paces.  Olympia, by 00 Seven, is going to be a very big girl but has a very light spring in her step, she is the ballerina of the trio.  I hope to post some pictures soon but the rain is not being very kind.

Meanwhile our two year olds and yearlings are growing beautifully and are showing some amazing talent.

Bangalow Creek Magic was broken in at the end of 2012 and is just wonderful.  He is very elegant with rhythmical and scopey paces.  He has great balance and uphill carriage for a youngster and is showing a very kind and trainable temperament.  He will hopefully begin competing by the middle of the year and I think he will be a great candidate for the Four Year Old Young Horse classes next year.  Included is a Utube link of Magic taken last month.

Just Dance has made his Advanced debut.  We achieved some great qualifying scores for the CDI, one of them 68% for our third ever Advanced test.  So the beginning of May will see us packing the truck and heading off to SIEC for the CDI.  Meanwhile, more practice and more lessons.
